    Dibner Building

SMOKE PURGE DAMPER SYSTEM (March 2013-July 2013): From approximately March to July 2013, the Dibner Building's 20-year-old smoke purge damper system will be replaced in a phased-in, floor-by-floor approach.  This extensive infrastructure upgrade, once completed, is expected to yield significant improvements in the flow of air, heating and air conditioning throughout the building.  The bulk of the work is scheduled to take place outside of normal business hours to minimize disruption as much as possible.  Be aware that while the system is being replaced, there may be evidence of work in localized areas.

    2 MetroTech Center

9th FLOOR (Fall 2012—Winter 2013; PROJECT COMPLETED): The second phase of the 2 MetroTech Center project, the build-out of the 9th floor, will begin in September 2012. The 24,000-square-foot space will be home to an exciting new research space for NYU WIRELESS and the Center for Advanced Technology in Telecommuni- cations (CATT). The 9th floor also will include three, large-capacity classrooms, a high-capacity data center, and a small student gathering space. The build-out is expected to be completed for a January 2013 move-in.

    Rogers Hall & Othmer

THE INSTITUTE FOR ENGINEERED INTERFACES (IEI) LABORATORIES (July 2012 – May 2013): A shared lab to promote cross-disciplinary research, and made possible by an NSF grant, the Institute for Engineered Interfaces (IEI) Laboratories, will consist of a newly created synthetic chemistry lab and an adjacent cell culture lab. The project will transform classroom RH 803 (which will be replaced by a new classroom being built on the 3rd floor of Rogers Hall), along with RH 811, 813 and 822, into the IEI lab. Additionally, on the 7th floor, the laboratory in RH 716 will be upgraded to accept another NSF grant award for a new state-of-the-art NMR spectroscopy machine. Construction will begin in July 2012 and is expected to be completed by mid-March 2013.

THIRD FLOOR RESTROOMS (May 2013):  As part of the ongoing upgrades to Rogers Hall, renovations to the 3rd floor restrooms got underway in late-December 2012 and are expected to be completed by the end of May 2013. Thanks to the extensive upgrade of the plumbing infrastructure that was part of the 1st and 4th floor restroom renovations in 2011, restroom renovations on the remaining floors of Rogers Hall will be easier to undertake and faster to complete.

LOCAL LAW 11 MAINTENANCE (May 2013- TBD): Beginning in May 2013, Rogers Hall and the Othmer Residence Hall will be undergoing exterior repair work required by New York City's Local Law 11. Please be advised of the following construction impacts:

Rogers Hall: Sidewalk bridging (scaffolding) will be erected on all sides of Rogers Hall by the end of the month in preparation for routine repairs to the building’s façade, windows, and supports for air conditioning units.

Othmer Residence Hall: Sidewalk bridging (scaffolding) also will be erected around the Othmer Residence Hall while exterior maintenance is addressed. As a precautionary measure, the backyard of Othmer is closed and will remain closed until further notice.
