Polymer Research Institute:
Celebrating 60 Years in Education and Research
In honor of the Polymer Research Institute’s 60th anniversary, a special symposium will be held on the afternoon of June 13, 2007 following the IUPAC - ACS polymer conference at Polytechnic’s Brooklyn Campus.
The Polymer Research Institute (PRI) was founded by Dr. Herman Mark 60 years ago and continues to be an internationally recognized leader in the synthesis, characterization, structure, processing, properties, and applications of polymeric materials. Over 1,500 polymer scientists and engineers from all over the world have trained as undergraduates and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and visiting scholars at PRI. They have contributed and continue to contribute to the development of new polymer technologies in industry as well as in academia. The American Chemical Society designated the Polymer Research Institute a National Historic Chemical Landmark in 2003.
Registration for the symposium will take place between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at the Dibner Building Lobby. The program will include appearances from past and current Herman Mark Medalists as well as memorial lectures in honor of Professor Elrich. A cocktail party and anniversary dinner will follow the program.
