About the YES Center

The Promise Fund's Center for Youth in Engineering and Science (YES) promotes activities which excite high school students about career opportunities in engineering and science. The Center is dedicated to nurturing their interest, developing their scientific curiosity, and encouraging them to pursue further academic study.

The YES Center supports this mission by sponsoring a variety of high school outreach programs designed to motivate pre-college students to pursue scientific careers based upon their acquired understanding of, and fascination with, technology. As the official site for the New York City Mathematics, Science & Technology Fair, Polytechnic Institute of NYU has the unique privilege and responsibility of being a catalyst for ever-greater standards of technical achievement in our secondary schools. The YES Center is the outward expression of our commitment to that goal.

The YES Center is underwritten by the Promise Fund, one of Polytechnic Institute of NYU's premier scholarship programs. The Promise Fund opens the door of opportunity to students who may be encouraged to become scientists, engineers, or other technology related professionals. Promise Fund Scholarship recipients are bright deserving students from modest circumstances. They are primarily minorities and woman, often children of immigrants and frequently represent the first generation in their families to seek a college degree. Over the 18 year history of the Promise Fund, corporations and foundations have contributed more than 15 million, providing scholarships to more than 2000 students. Without the Scholarships and financial aid, many of these students would have little chance to realize their professional dreams.
